Salesforce Company News and More

Salesforce is in the news this week for a couple of very exciting reasons, both of which are the result of long term initiatives driven by the companies CEO Marc Benioff.

First, they garnered the 8th position in Fortune's The 100 Best Companies to Work For: Why They Matter list. They have long been a company that invests heavily in community - both through their Salesforce.org free subscriptions for non-profits and educators and policy for 7 days of annual PTO for volunteer work. More recently Benioff has tweaked salaries across his company to erase the the gender pay gap as part of a long term initiative to make Salesforce a more equitable and fair workplace.

Salesforce company news and moreThe other reason the folks over at the Salesforce company are excited has to do with Einstein, their sales and customer service-oriented Artificial Intelligence. As of the upcoming spring release Einstein will touch on most every system within Salesforce. John Ball, the GM of Einstein, is very encouraged by the AI's ability to build models of models, and what that could mean for the entire Salesforce customer base. Every customization to Salesforce is done to better model the customers actual business, and having Einstein along as custom fields are created and used will be a very important driver for future learning.

Salesforce's Einstein is also teaming up with IBM's Watson which already interacts with around a billion people a day. Watson and Einstein will start their partnership by focusing on the 5000 or so customers the two companies have in common.

And if that isn't enough to convince you how cool and important AI is, Sunday at SXSW, Mark Cuban said, "...the world's first trillionaires are going to come from somebody who masters AI and all its derivatives and applies it in ways we never thought of...."
